How to Write a Resume Like a Boss

...the idea can be quite frightening!

But it doesn't have to be.

One of the most challenging parts about writing your own resume is making sure that your resume meets industry standards. Resume standards have changed a lot over the past 5-10 years. Long gone are the words "Objective" and the phrase "References Available Upon Request".

To ensure that your resume meets industry standards, use the following checklist below. And if you need assistance, head over to the order page and order our Professional Resume Critique.

Resume Writing Tips:

  1. Have you updated your contact information?

  2. Does your resume include a Summary of Qualifications?

  3. Have you included an Areas of Expertise section?

  4. Is your Professional Experience in reverse chronological order?

  5. Have you used bullets in the Professional Experience section?

  6. Does your resume omit articles (a, an, the)?

  7. Do you have orphans inside of your resume?

  8. Does your resume include action words?

  9. Is the document a full one/two page document?

  10. Is the font type the same throughout the resume? Is the font size the same as well?

Hopefully these tips help! As always, if you need any assistance please feel free to contact me at ellecareerservices@gmail.com!
