You're Not an Entrepreneur...and That's OK!

Scroll through your social media account and it seems like you can't even blink an eye before you see a post about entrepreneurship. While I applaud those that have traded in the 9-5 lifestyle, I often wonder: where do the non-entrepreneur millennial fit in? The Social Workers, the Engineers, the IT Specialists, the Marketing Managers, the Educators (like myself!) Where's there to fit in when it seems like everyone is telling you to "fire your boss" and "build wealth from home"?

Does this mean you're inferior to those that have the entrepreneurial drive? Certainly not!

If you're a non-entrepreneur feeling a little out of place in the social media world, read on for some inspiration and advice!

Decide What Your Goals Are

Take a second, a minute, an hour, or even longer to figure out what your goals are in life. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? Try to map out a plan for how to get from Point A to Point B. That's not to say your plan won't change, but having your mind set on your future goals and actually working toward them will help keep you focused.

Don't Feel Pressured

It might seem like the only way you can get a taste of the lavish life is through becoming an entrepreneur. But that's not true. Believe it or not, entrepreneurs have to work extremely hard to become successful. And you can become successful too through hard work and dedication. Also, are you currently building a savings for your future? No matter what direction you decide to take in life, whether it's being an entrepreneur or a person that works a 9-5, investing in your future will help you reach your financial goals. It's better to start now than to start later.

Be Inspired, Not Intimidated

Following entrepreneurs on social media doesn't have to make you feel intimidated. One thing that's important to realize is that you're often looking at a snapshot of a person's life online. You don't know how many years, bloodshed, or tears were spent to get them to where they are today. Everyone's pace is different, that's the beauty of life. Turn any ounce of intimidation that you might have into inspiration. Be inspired by their drive, determination, and dedication...even if you're not headed toward the same finish line, you can both win the same race!

Find Role Models Within Your Field/Industry

Start searching for role models within your industry to follow on social media. People that are at the same place you're at and/or higher. You never know...some of the people you follow might actually be in the same field/industry that you're in!

Don't Give Up!

Never give up on reaching your goals, no matter what those goals are. Your goal might be to work a 9-5 so that you can spend time with your family and enjoy life. Your goal might be to work 12 hours a day helping to care and improve the quality of life of others. Or your goal might be to work full time while getting a taste of the entrepreneur life by starting up a side business to pay off credit cards and student loans. No matter what it is...your plan is meant for you. And it's up to you to make it work!
